New Year's Eve in Las Vegas is America's Party!

Welcome once again to New Year’s Eve in Sin City.  It’s always a tremendous event that welcomes in the New Year here in Las Vegas.

The theme for America’s Party this year is “Vegas Rocks” and will feature a spectacular 8 minute fireworks show along the Las Vegas Strip.  Fireworks will be shot off the rooftops of 7 different casinos on the Strip.  Fireworks and major coordination for the event are provided by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

For the 10th year in a row, Fireworks by Grucci will coordinate the fireworks display.  Las Vegas Events is co-producing the show.  Grucci has also developed a free smartphone app that will synchronize a custom music score to the fireworks. The app is available for both iPhone and Android through a search for “Fireworks by Grucci.”

The list of casinos shooting off the fireworks are: Aria, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort, Stratosphere, Treasure Island and The Venetian.

The LVCVA estimates around 330,000 people will ring in 2017 in Las Vegas.  During the fireworks, they’ll listen to tributes for David Bowie; Prince; and Emerson, Lake and Palmer.  Other artists featured include Lionel Richie; Celine Dion; and Earth, Wind and Fire.

As is normal, the Las Vegas Strip will be closed to all vehicle traffic.  5:00 PM will see the shutdown of the I-15 Freeway Ramps at Tropicana, Flamingo Road; and Spring Mountain Road.  All other adjacent streets leading to the Strip will begin closing at 5:45 PM.  All streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road will be closed - with all barricades in place by 6:00 PM.

Downtown Las Vegas will also have their fireworks as traditional on the Viva Vision Canopy.
